Spring/Summer 2017 Trend Forecast: Pause
Disclaimer: I use the fashion forecasting site – WGSN, so a lot of the images (which will be credited) will more than likely be from that site unless stated otherwise.
Spring/Summer 2017 is just around the corner and the one trend that I believe connects to and excites me the most is, Pause.
Pause focuses on minimalism, luxury, quality, and comfort.
The main silhouette is the A-line, a narrowed top half followed by a flared hemline.
Warmer weather: Light silks, mesh and fine jerseys
Cooler weather: faux fur and plush velvets
Features: Smart technology incorporated to garments and wearable technology
Colours: Mysterious palette, luxurious, monochromatic and calm, peachy and coral, mixed with deep fall colours with deep black as an accent
What makes it Luxury?
The one of a kind craftsmanship and attention to detail.
What makes it rare?
Everyday object transformed to rare commodities (ie. Gold comb), precious keepsakes and heirlooms.
What makes it fragile?
Airy and free flowing light fabric, ultra fine mesh, delicate organza, and fragile quality connects to modernism with classic femininity.
What makes it exquisite refinement?
Methods such as caging (a modern approach to lace) works well with lingerie, grid patterns are deconstructed and takes on a subtle form on fine woven bases.
What makes it meditative modernism?
Free flowing garments to symbolize the peace of mind and mindfulness of the heart (ie. floor skimming summer dresses).
What makes the defining lines?
Lines are added for graphic appeal, gold metal tipping and borders to exude luxury and create statement pieces.
What makes the cone shape?
As previously mentioned the primary silhouette is an A-line, and the cone shape helps emphasize this with its extreme form while going for a minimalistic approach.
What makes it shine?
Velvet and suede are made lighter and enhanced through the addition of metallic fibers for high luster(shine) and crease effects.
Those were the key points and outtakes for the upcoming Spring/Summer 2017 trend, Pause. There are obviously other trends as well (which will be posted soon) so come back in a few days to read more about other trends for SS’17!
P.S. How excited are you for this trend? (Leave a comment below to let me know! I’m curious 🙂 )
