If you are in the market for a lipstick that is natural, organic, anti-aging, moisturizing, pigmented, and handmade, Bite Beauty is for you!
What is Bite Beauty?
Bite beauty is a Canadian lip makeup company founded by Susanne Langmuir in 2011. It was then acquired by LVMH-owned (who also owns Sephora) beauty incubator, Kendo in 2014. You can also customize your very own lipstick in one of their 4 lip labs (one in San Antonio, New York, San Jose, and Toronto).
What makes Bite different from its competitors?
All lipsticks are infused with anti-ageing antioxidant resveratrol and handcrafted to provide nourishing, restorative benefits here in Toronto. These lipsticks are made of natural, food-grade ingredients (making it completely safe to consume! However I don’t actually recommend you to try it) and are all handmade one at a time. Each lipstick moisturizes and are packed with protective antioxidants like resveratrol, organic fruit butters, and Manuka honey.
The products that I received from influenster
In the box:
Upon opening the box, there was a postcard insert congratulating me for being selected to try the new lip pencil by Bite Beauty (I was one of 2,500 lucky influensters to receive one)! Underneath wrapped in black tissue paper were 2 lip pencils that Bite rolled out into Sephora during the beginning of the month (February 2017) in the shades #20 and #44 accompanied by a Sephora biodegradable sharpener and matching Amuse Bouche lipsticks – Honeycomb and Whiskey. Talk about the whole package!
My thoughts on the Lip Pencils and the Amuse Bouche lipsticks:
It holds true to its claims on having a pigmented and creamy coverage for both products. The lip pencil was easy to use as it glides onto the lips smoothly and accurately. The lipstick did the same trick but contrary to its claim of being moisturizing, if your lips are initially chapped before application, your lips will look like you just smeared crayons all over it (so please prep your lips and moisturize them beforehand if your lips like mine, tend to get dryer during the winter). They also have a long lasting wear (as long as you’re not wiping your mouth vigorously when you’re out for lunch) which was a pleasant surprise – especially for the darker shade, Whiskey.
I love the packaging of these product, they look simple, clean, and exude luxury. Colour-wise I do prefer Honeycomb over Whiskey, since it is more versatile and wearable (dates, lunch/dinner out, natural look, etc.). I found Whiskey to be a little too dark to my liking (and apparently to a lot others who received these complimentary products as well according to their IG posts) it does however play a role in certain occasions – when I want to look edgy or like a badass rockstar/punk (which unfortunately does not occur often enough for me to appreciate this shade).
Some helpful tips:
I also found this video by Influenster to be really helpful! (Video Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ti-Tr-FVG3M )
It shows you how to achieve fuller lips by layering the product (lining with #20 first, application of Honeycomb over the lips, line with #44, then Honeycomb again).
